 ☽Scripting☽

No good story is worth being told if there is no plot. Well, in the terms of the film there is no story being told at all with no good script! Scripting isn't only for film. It is also used for plays and musicals. Scripting is a huge necessity in the entertainment world. So let's take a look at my main inspiration "what we do in the shadows" and how the film is scripted, what the contents/structure of the film means, and how it would apply to my film.

As you can see from the example provided, this is what a typical script looks like. There is often a script with special directions and annotations for the director and another general copy of the script for the actors and other supporting crew such as camera and lights. The main job that the script is responsible for is to set the scene and give actors direction as to what story that they are supposed to be telling. For example, if you look at the first couple lines of the script, you can see the line "WS VIAGO'S COFFIN IN BEDROOM. CLOCK ON TABLE. COFFIN OPENS AND VIAGOS HAND REACHES OUT AND TURNS OFF CLOCK." This is a good example of just how specific scripts can be. It helps set the tone and really gives aid to everyone in the cast and crew to know just exactly what they are doing and what needs to be done. Because what's an actor to do without some guide I mean, that's the main basis of their job!

In my script, you can see me try to best give example to clearly setting the scene for the people who will make it real. using points such as “black screen with white text” or “fade out into music”. being sure to make these directions and descriptions especially clear are most important. my script is also structured to where the text is well spaced out and having little bullet points like “*” and () to differentiate stage/technical directions and small actions and features I want the actors specifically to use for their character.

In summary, my film will be titled "The Gift of Misfits" and will be a mockumentary-style fantasy film that will explore the everyday life of three witches and their shenanigans.
